A Gentle Man Was Buried Today

A gentle man was buried today. He was an unassuming person, as was his whole family. He was a man who meant what he said, and stood behind his word. He was a man of integrity, solid mid-western values, and a family man. He stood up to the Soviet Union, stared them down, and they blinked first. You young people don't know what the Cold War was like back then. I just want to salute a great, and gentle man, someone who I looked up to, someone who served his country with honor and pride. God bless you, Mr. President.

Wow! Gerald R. Ford, former President, who was nominated into office by none other than former president Richard M. 'I am not a crook' Nixon!
I did like former President Ford, from what I heard from my parents...but for some reason he didn't have enough clout to make it into office for a full term--on his own.

I actually thought he passed away years ago...shows how much they mention that much news over here...I was lucky to find out when Ronald R. Reagan had passed away!

I know former President Ford was from Michigan...the reason why is because my College History Professor (who failed me in his class!) was also a volunteer worker at the President Ford Memorial 'Museum'? Or, whatever building they give to former presidents after they were in office.

I was just a little too young to know about voting and such...my voting rights didn't actually take place until Reagan's second term, so I at least knew how much of a ***** that former President Carter was!! (Yea, the one who got elected over former President Ford, right!?)

Fred, the fact that Ford pardoned Nixon is probably what ruined his career. The mood of the country was that way, back then. He was a nice guy, tough when you had to be, and he left the economy in good shape. Considering he wasn't elected to the office, he did prettu good. That's why the choosing of a vice-president is so important--you never know when they will take control.
