I wanted to share with you a great addition to our equipment collection!

I just recently bought a GermGuardian Dry Heat Sterilizer. I love it! I feel so in control of germs! First I soak Avery's neb cups, masks, inhaler and aero-chamber in hot soapy water and then shake off. Next I add all of it to the chamber and 30 min. later everything is sterlized and dry! I store it when finished in a airtight container.

I bought it at Baby's R Us and I think it was around 70 dollars. It is so worth it especially since our CF clinic just started getting more diligent about cleaning techniques.

Hope this helps some of you!

I hate to burst your bubble, but I would hate it if I was where you are now and no one told me the facts. The germ guardian does not come close to getting rid of the bugs we are trying to protect our kids from.
As it is a dry heat sterilizer, it must get to a much higher temperature in order to actually sterilize, and this product does not do that.
Blessings,
Missa

That's funny because it was recommended to me by people on this forum and by a nurse. I have CF Clinc next week and I will ask them.

If a nurse recommded a dry sterilizer, then he/she skipped one too many classes in school.

It is nearly impossible to obtain 'true' sterilization using dry heat.

Steam works quickly and well, but dry heat must be much higher and longer than anything you can buy retail to my knowledge.

All medical equipment is sterilized with steam (Autoclave) or more recently with irradition-especially for disposable medical supplies.
