A hilarious yet awesome little story...

So unfortunately I've been in the hospital since October 13th. My birthday was October 19th. It was my 21st! So all of the nurses made a huge Happy birthday banner, gave me a delicious cake, gave me 2 pints of delicious (and my favorite!) ice cream (Chunky Monkey), a $15 iTunes gift card, and my CF doctors even snuck in a Bud Light for me for the traditional beer most 21 year olds want. Of course it wasn't my first, and they knew that, but I thought it was funny and pretty awesome of them. Anyone else have any cool stories of having to spend a birthday in the hospital?

Sorry You were locked up for Your birthday. I'm 28 and have been in lock up for 2 birthdays, and gone in the day after 2 other times. 2 years ago I was at UCSD and went home to shower and go out to dinner with my Family. The hospital lost it and freaked out. It had always been ok in the past for me to "go for a walk" for a few hrs and be back for my IV's. When I got back I had to get checked over by the Doc to make sure I had not gone out and get some drugs to put through my port. It was nuts. They don't have any idea on what it is like to be locked up for 2-4 weeks at a time.

Hope You get out soon, order a pizza and see if the pizza shop will dilver You a beer with the pizza.

Happy Belated Birthday! It bites when you have to be in the hospital on your birthday of all days, but your 21st! That just sux! It was really awesome that your nurses and docs came through for a birthday you will never forget. Hang in there and I hope you get out soon.

I'm 20 and haven't spent my bday in a hospital yet (knock on wood) but it's really cool that your doctors snuck you in a Bud Light! I can see family doing that, but doctors!? You must have some really chill doctors <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> I can't see my doc EVER doing something like that. Yeah, I've been coming to this hospital for 16 years now so I'm really tight with everyone and they are all super cool. It really helps being in a hospital with people that practically feel like good friends. It's totally depressing when you go somewhere completely new and know nobody (I've had to do that once and I was surprised how much the surroundings and staff make up the mood of the stay.)

Yeah, I've been coming to this hospital for 16 years now so I'm really tight with everyone and they are all super cool. It really helps being in a hospital with people that practically feel like good friends. It's totally depressing when you go somewhere completely new and know nobody (I've had to do that once and I was surprised how much the surroundings and staff make up the mood of the stay.)

I have had exactly 5 birthdays in the hospital the best was my 21st when my buddy that I grew up with Billy came to see me and he was being kinda odd while the nurse was around and so when she left I asked what his problem was did he not like her....he said "no I don't want to get introuble or you in trouble but happy birthday bro" and he hads me a bottle of vodka....no not a big bottle just a little 2 shoter but it was awesome in keeping with that spirit of drinking on your 21st...thanks for making me remember that one <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
