?? about pressure on the Vest

The last few days I have had chest pain. It feels like a plug, Nebs help a bit, tylenol helps a bit, massaging helps a bit. But it hasnt gone away completely.

Today I did get some plugs up, but what I realized this morning is that I have increased the pressure on the vest.

Depending on my tolerance depends on the settings sometimes. It didnt bother me at the time, but do you think that this pain might be an affect from the pressure. I dont usually go that high, but since I could tolerate it I tried it.

Whether it be loosing up plugs or muscular I am not sure, but I am curious if anyone else had delayed pain from using a higher pressure on the vest.

With my old vest i had the pressure on 3 or 4. For some reason with my new one i have to usually keep it at 1. I dont like the pressure , because it sometimes hurts my lower ribs right around where the gallbladder would be. This could be due to the fact that i tend to slouch , but who knows. Its great that with extra pressure you are getting out the plugs. It may be a muscular issue that is causing you pain. I know sometimes when i decide to really push myself hard on the treadmill and walk as fast as i can for a few minutes , sometimes the next day i have pain, and i assume it is muscular since i forced my lungs and all the muscles surrounding them to step it up a bit more than they are used to. i hope you get it resolved soon<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Sometimes I get little pangs in my sides reminiscent of when I was a kid and had to run the mile for PE or some garbage. But those go away after a few hours at most. I'm not sure if it has to do with the pressure of the vest or just the fact that I'm exerting myself so much by coughing so hard. When I increase my vest pressure, it usually feels better for me.

I'm thinking maybe you have a little inflammation in the lining of the lungs (pleurisy). Sometimes that happens to me when I've been really productive with getting out a lot of plugs. And that can take a couple of days to feel better. Other than that, I'm not sure what it could be.

If you're only experiencing pain on one side, I don't think it's because of the vest. You may have overexerted a bronchiole or other airway when coughing so much to remove a plug. You may want to try keeping the pressure, but decreasing the frequency and see if that makes a difference.

Diane mentioned a good point too...posture. If it's not too exhausting, consider doing part of your Vest time while standing. That automatically promotes deeper breathing.
