Acapella vs. Vest

When i was in the hospital they gave me an acapella ( the green one) to use till they got me the vest. I myself dont find it effective at all. But i love my flutter <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">
The flutter seems to be way more effective than the acapella. I like the vest ( i used to hate it) but it allows me to be hands free to type on here and other sites ( I am using the vest right now). I usually use the flutter at night or whenever i feel some crud needs to be moved out. I am guessing ( although it isnt good advice) that as long as you are doing some kind of clearance ,it is better than doing no clearance technique at all.

I hate my Vest. I've never liked it, but I now accept it as a necessary evil. Personally I like Manual CPT the best. I always get up more using postral drainage and manual CPT.. I guess whether or not you can substitute the Vest or not will have to do with your PFTs and overall health. My doctor's told me what I posted above, but then again I dont have high PFTs. You should look at which technique is right for you and your individual needs, but talk it over with your doctor as well. I dont think you should make the change without at least telling them. I was just tell you what my doctor told me. And at every visit they do ask how often do I do my Vest and use the Acapella as a substitute and make a point that I dont use the Acapella more than the Vest.

I use an Acapella, and I find it very effective. I tried the vest once in the doctor's office, and really didn't know what to make of it, but I'm going to try it for real here soon. I will continue to use my Acapella as well...

Most of you probably already know this...but, with so many stating they don't like the vest I thought I'd point it out. You have to make sure you are using the vest correctly. You have to stop it about every 5 minutes and do some huffing to bring anything up. If you just hook it up and go without breaking, you won't get the maximum results you need. I have also used the flutter and still use it as a supplement to the vest and find it effective as well.
