Since you live by the beach, not sure this will be too exciting for you, but we've found carmel-by-the-sea in carmel, California to be absolutely divine. It is kinda touristy, yet close to wineries and a super short drive from monterey, Cali or Pacific Grove, Cali. Gorgeous. We used to live in Monterey, Cali, so if you have questions, PM me. There is a lot of fog and its conducive (in my opinion) to some amazing writing and absolutely breathtaking, cool ocean air! Its usually not warm though if that's what you're looking for. (I think we wore short sleeves only a week or two out of the year we lived there!)
