Accordant Health Services?

Curious if anyone else has heard from this group. We got a letter thru our insurance company regarding Accordant Health Services and then they tracked my husband down at work and asked if we were interested in signing up. The literature they sent us was very, very basic info on what CF is and effects, which was like something you'd see in a high school health class text book. Here's a copy of the letter we were sent:

Accordant Health Services is an independent company assisting in the administration of XXXXXXX health and wellness program. Accordant's program currently provides disease management support to members with complex, chronic medical conditions in the Federal Employee Program. Starting in August, the program will be available to members of fully insured and self-funded employer groups.

Through XXXXX's AccordantCaretm program, nurse case managers work individually with eligible plan members and their physicians to address the unique health care needs associated with high-cost, complex conditions.

Specifically, the program provides eligible members information about active and effective self-management techniques, helps providers educate their patients and promotes adherence to their treatment plans. Members in the program have access to specialized telephonic nursing support, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition, members receive monthly newsletters with preventive tips and have access to Accordant's website, which contains in-depth, condition-specific information and an extensive archive of health resources.

Accordant offers disease management services for these chronic conditions:

Seizure Disorders
Multiple Sclerosis
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
Sickle Cell Disease
Hemophilia
Polymyositis
Gaucher Disease
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Parkinson's Disease
Myasthenia Gravis
Cystic Fibrosis
Scleroderma
Dermatomyositis
Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyradiculoneuropathy
Crohn's Disease

well. personally I do not use the Disease Managment services offered by my provider since I'm already doing waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy more then they even offer all by my lonesome.
BUT.
when Jess was first diagnosed, the case manager (early days of Disease Management) was very very helpful. Of course at that time we had no idea what we were doing. multiple testing centers, doctors, hospital admission etc.

so it all depends on the kind of 'help' you need. And only you know what that is.

no downside to talking to them. might even be able to get you some help with drug copays, making doctor appts. etc.

It sounds very similar to what's offered through the Nurse Case Manager service through our insurance. They can be helpful to us re. Emily's care but they also, similar to what you post, are undoubtedly there to serve their company's bottom line as well (streamlining care to save money.)

Exactly how I feel Harriet. In fact DH JUST called them about an enzyme issue and they didn't tell us anything we didn't already know.

My insurance company is contracted with Accordant. Accordant said I had to join, but my insurance plan said it was totally up to me. I chose not to deal with them. They call about every three months to see if you are being compliant. I use the Accordant website for tips. They have good information on their page.
