acne and zithromax?

I read on this site that someone suffered from acne while on zithromax. Has anyone else had this happen? Is it a known side effect? I think it happened to my son- better now, but he is taking minocin.

I found this:Are there any side effects associated with Zithromax? Zithromax side effects may include abdominal pain, diarrhea or loose stools, and nausea or vomiting. If the side effects continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. Less common Zithromax side effects may include blood in the stools, chest pain, dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, gas, headache, heart palpitations, indigestion, itching, jaundice, kidney infection, light sensitivity, rash, severe allergic reaction including swelling (as in hives), vaginal inflammation, vertigo, and yeast infection. Other uncommon Zithromax side effects sometimes seen in children include agitation, constipation, cough, facial swelling, feeling of illness, fever, fungal infection, insomnia, loss of appetite, nervousness, overactivity, pinkeye, runny nose, shortness of breath, sore throat, stomach inflammation, and sweating. I have been taking zithromax for about a year and a half now, and although i dont have bad acne, i have noticed my skin has not been as good since going on it. i break out more often and this is annoying considering i am getting older and that is supposed to stop happening!!!i dont know...i went on minocycline once a few months ago, and had a terrible reaction to it...i.e. lightheadedness, dizzy, nauseous...but my skin was GREAT! i was so pissed b/c i had to go off of it b/c i felt so sick, but i really liked the effect it had on my skin...

yeah minocycline is just an antibiotic...i think only available in pill form but maybe IV too...it is in the tetracycline group, and is used like other t-cyclines...for respiratory infections, and commonly for acne. no it is for men and women...

I would get dizzy and light headed for the first 4 days or so of talking it, but after going off and on it more often that feeling went completely away, and it doesnt happen at all anymore ( thank God) ~Diane 39 / cf / diabetes / b.cepacia

I actually love Zithromax for my skin - I had been a part of a study that used Zithro, and my skin improved so much (I have random allergies that were causing skin rashes, very mild acne and inflammation on my face), I actually asked my doc if I could go on it simply to help my skin! When I was put on the regimen, I noticed that, after about 6 months - all of the allergies I had went away, and my skin feels baby smooth. I have heard Zithro actually be prescribed for people with severe acne.Weird huh?

Today I go on minocycline for my acne. Turns out I have it from Zithromax but after I stopped taking it I still haven't cleared up. But anyway, has anyone that has taken minocycline while also taking cimetidine still seen results. On www.rxlist.com is says

"This family of drugs can increase the effects of digoxin, lithium, and of anticoagulants. Taking iron with tetracyclines may decrease the absorption, and cimetidine may also interfere with absorption. Diabetics should be aware that tetracyclines may reduce insulin requirements."

Thanks.

Also, for the people that were or are on minocycline how long did you take it for? All I got was a 4 week course with no refills. And I heard it takes a month to see results. So whats up with that?
