Add another state to the list

Though CF is not a common disease among Pacific Islanders, Hawai'i has now implemented newborn screening to test for cystic fibrosis as well as other common hereditary diseases. Early diagnosis can sometimes make such a huge difference! I was one of the first babies diagnosed on the Colorado newborn screen in 1982. My family is still in touch with the state representative that fought for mandatory screening.

Does anyone have a list of the states that have mandatory newborn screening for CF? I haven't found one recently. Does anyone do advocacy for newborn screening in your state (if it's not mandated yet)?

I know that Washington only added CF to its screening a little over a year ago, even though they two of the best CF centers on the west coast right here in Seattle.

At the beginning of the summer there were 36 states, (including Wash. D.C.) that had mandatory testing. Florida was added at the end of June, which bumped it up to 37, and now with Hawaii that should be 38.
