yesterday NPR reported on a study that showed Advair can make asthma worse for some people (see www.npr.org) - opinions? It is one of the drugs I use for CF. Laura

I too take advair 100/50 for cf for the last 3 1/2 years and I have several friends who take it and have severe asthma and swear by it. This article doesn't give all the facts so I would say you should ask your doctor what he thinks about this new finding. I certainly will bring it up when I go for my appointment in 2 weeks.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I've been on it for almost a year and a half. ( 150/50 ) I heard this on a commercial recently about Advair and it scares me, and i have asked my doctor about it a while back and he said i shouldnt worry about that. If they wrote all the things about all medicines no-one would take anything. I have a new doctor now and i will ask her when i see her next and she what her take on it is..............

My doctor isnt concerned. As a matter of fact she would rather have me stop pulmicort neb & continue the Advair!

Melissa,
Do you take pulmicort AND advair? I ask because my docs wanted me to do this and I didn't want that much steroid in my lungs. I've never met someone else who does both.

I've heard on the commercials of the risks. I have been on it for about 3+ years for an asthma component (500/50). I feel crappy when I miss just one dose.

I am someone who doesn't like Advair. I am much more short of breath and wheeze a lot more being on it then off. I haven't taken it in about six months and I feel better off it.

I don't need the steroid componet of it. Lord knows I get enough steroids in my pills.. but I know a lot of ppl who like it,

Yes I currently am on both, but she wants to wean (sp?) me off the PUlmicort & just be on Advair. She says the Serevent in the Advair is a big benefit to me even tho I prefer the "wet feel" of the PUlmicort. I know that some CFers say its not good to use both because of the extra steroids, but my airway problems have been so bad that its the only thing besides taking Prednisone that works.
