Okay so I'm on birth control and have been since I don't even know but I was on iv's last month and this month I was a little late (two days) getting my period. I did get it but it's barely there. I'm going to take a pregnancy test just in case but I don't know if the antibiotics I've been on would harm a baby if there is one. I'm a little worried so any support or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

I would think its the med themselves knocking your period out of whack. When I am on iv's it has knocked my cycle off for 2 months depending on things. Everything from when I get it to how long I have it to how heavy I bleed. IF you arent sure then get a pregnancy test, but off the top of my head I think its the meds.

Remember that antibiotics do affect the efficacy of birth control pills.

So if you're on antibiotics (zithromax, cipro, or IV's), always keep this in mind.

Sometimes having an infection alone can throw things out of whack. When we get sick we dont always eat as much and tend to drop a few pounds and that can throw off the menstrual cycle also. Stress can be a factor as well. I know when i need iv's ,i tend to be stressed ,and it can throw off the whole period thing. Just a few ideas to ponder ....

I am with Melissa on this one. I always have my cycle thrown off when I am on Abx for anything.

Sometimes I will skip months entirely and then have really heavy bleed the next month, or sometimes it just very very light in comparison to the norm. It really depends on the med, how sick I was and how long I was taking the meds.

Hope all is well.

if you suspect you there is a chance you're pregnant and you are on any antibiotics now, i'd call the doc to tell them as soon as you find out, asap bc some antibitocs are not good for the pregnancy. just my opinion.
