Airport security with a mic-key button?

I'll be flying in a few weeks and the whole TSA safety stuff that's going on has really been crazy. I'll go through the x-ray machine, fine. But I wonder if my mic-key button will make them become concerned? Do you think I'll be patted down, will I have to explain to them why I have it? I'm definitely not looking forward to flying.

you should be ok...if they put you through that full body scanner im sure it will show up (as will every other orifice on your body) and they may look at it, but it should be no big deal! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I've wondered the same thing about my medport. I have no experience with the new security measures but my advice would be check out the TSA's website to see what they're recommendations/requirements about that kind of stuff may be and possibly have your CF doc write a letter explaining what it is/use to help the staff better understand if they question you about it. Let us know how it goes if you could, I'm really curious after reading the stories about people with ostomies, etc who have had to go through the scan/pat down.

I would have a letter from your doctor stating what they are just in case. It might save you a few minutes and a lot of explaining.

The last time I flew, there were no issues with my Mic-key button. However, I did have a note from my doctor just in case. I believe the Oley Foundation has info on their site about flying with a feeding tube. The site is www.oley.orh

This is a good question. I am very interested in how it turned out for you. I haven't found anything on the TSA site about g-tubes in the full body scans. I feel like it is a total invasion of privacy if they have to look at the tube separately. That is not something I would be ok showing to them. I would like to know if they do have to look at the tube if they do it is kinda discrimination because we can't help that we have cf and have to have a g-tube why should we have to endure extra security measures.
