They said they could no longer send out albuteral because it contained cholor flora carbons..... anyone else being told they have to take Provental now? Also has anyone ever used Provental?

Is this the mdi we are talking about or the inhalation solution? Proventil is brand and albuterol is generic. I just got albuterol inhalation solution tonihgt, and they gave me the generic. I also recieved some mdi's a month or so ago and they are generic, not proventil. Is proventil making their inhalers different now? I don't know if the mdi's use cfc's as propellants for the meds. Advair, for anyone who never took the discus apart when they were finished uses a long paper, and foil medicine holder(a smimlar description would be like the long red paper for cap guns used when you were a kid) . Each time you click it it puts a little pod toward the chamber where you breath in and it separates the foil from the paper, exposing the powdered advair. Then you just inhale it. Kinda like spireva, but its all self contained.

Proventil is just brand name albuterol. Along with Ventolin another brand name of albuterol. Same drug 
ALL MDI's have to be made with HFA instead of CFCs. FLovent, Albuterol, XOpenex, Atrovent, Qvar etc etc. Not unique to albuterol

I have used the Proventil HFA. The only thing that stands that could be a problem is the mouth piece at that time was a weird shape and didn't fit my AeroChamber

Brief but informative. FYI, there is nothing wrong with the drug itself. The problem lies in the propellant that is used in the canister. Although the Montreal Protocol has resulted in a dramatic decline in the use of CFCs in most commercially available products, ozone depleting substances (ODS) are still being used. Not to worry though, these chemicals are used in very small quantities, and are highly regulated and inventoried.
How do I know? Because I've been a part of the inventory process.
