Albuterol or Xopenex

My son Austin takes Xopenex . He was on albuterol and it made him pretty hyper so the doctor switched him to the Xopenex. He has been on it for about 3 years now

My daughter also uses the Xopenex for the same reason. 1 dose of albuterol & she is like the energizer bunny--she just keeps going & going & going & going!!!

Hi Athena...no, I don't think it is related to the CF..it just happened, I was in my 20's when I first started having SVT issues...just about passed out on the doc (I worked on a med surg unit at the time), the same doc who told me it was anxiety and the fact that I had two kids was causing my "palpitations". I guess he finally believed me as they were wheeling me to the ER. I wound up staying the night for observation after IV cardizem, digoxin. I now take Verapamil...I almost did the EPS studies because meds weren't working well, but finally we tried verapamil and have been relatively stable since. I don't know about you but mine also acts up when my potassium and magnesium levels are too low. What triggers yours besides albuterol? I have been doing Xopenex for years now. The albuterol made me too jittery. During my last hospitalization I was switched from the Xopenex neb to the Xopenex HFA! It's so great to have reduced my nebbing time by 15-20 minutes. Every little bit helps.
