Alcohol

Alright i have a question that i hope someone can shed some light on. I have noticed in the past 8 or so months that certain alcohols will JACK my stomach up. For instance, one scenario: if i have a beer.. practically any beer, but i'm a Sam Adams man... ONE beer, at say, 9:00 at night, the next morning my stomach will be cramping, almost like the runs... after a few trips to the bathroom (in a period of an hour or so) then i'm fine.

This also happens if i have my all-time favorite drink, Crown and Coke.

I should point out that it's worse if my stomach is empty, but having food in my stomach does not make it go away COMPLETELY...

I mentioned this to my Drs. at USC, and asked them if i needed to take enzymes with alcohol. (something i never used to do, and have not always had this problem. I have, however, had to steadily increase my enzymes, i am now at 6 or 7 zenpep with each meal) They said they did not have a definite answer on the enzyme thing, but i could try it. So i did, and it seemed to help some, but not a lot. (and it only really helped for beer, i cant imagine there being a many calories that need enzyming in a shot of crown and a can of coke)

So i am wondering if anyone else has had the same issues, and if so what have you done to make this go away.

Thanks!

I do not have that particular reaction but my acid reflux does go nuts and I think perhaps the acidity of your stomach, if yours is beig affected, could have the affect that you are describing perhaps?

Could you try not drinking for a couple weeks and then see if you get the same effect. I am not normally one to even have a drink but on vacation recently I had at 1-2 per day for about 4-5 days and my stomach started having issues alot---that was my sign that my body just isnt cut out for drinking more than once in a blue moon which is my norm.

This happens to me when I drink mixed drinks.. or strong drinks. Last time it happened it was a sugary mixed drink. If I have one or two beers, or a glass of wine I'm fine. I don't drink mixed drinks/liquor enough to have figured out what/how much bothers me, but I do know that I have experience what you are referring to after having mixed drinks/liquor
