Can it be steam sterilized? I just got my first order from CF services and it came with the baby bottle sterilizer and everything!!! SWEEEET! Its the Nuk one...I am probably really late on getting this but haha...I'm pumped! So much easier than boiling on the stove.

Anywho...I used to clean the head/metal piece in rubbing alcohol and wipe off with freshly boiled water (from sterilizing the other pieces)...but now this way I have no way to rinse off the alcohol. Can I just put the piece in the top part of the sterilizer instead of using the alcohol? Maybe I should have watched the dvd first...lol.

You can use the sterilizer, to sterilize it <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

But, we also use alcohol periodically to wash beforehand, not as much for germs but because HTS (and Tobi to a lesser extent) can clog the head up; and alcohol helps break the gunk loose.

Caitlin-my son is on his second month of Cayston and he got the Nuk too with his first shipment. He has been using Medula bags-I think thats the name-because they are so easy. He was at our house with his first shipment but has since moved and his new microwave must be more powerful than mine and he said his kind of melted the equipment-not too bad but he doesnt think he needs to use the bags anymore. So- I got out the nuk for him to use. Do you just put the pieces in the top of the sterilizer? Thanks. Susan

Yep, it is completely safe to sterilize the metal head in the baby bottle sterilizer. In fact, I find the sterilizer does a better job at keeping the holes open than the alcohol does. Also, you should NEVER use the microwavable sterilizer bags because they can melt and deform the neb cups.
