Could you get an attorney to write a letter to the insurance company on your behalf?

I got the run around from my clinic and insurance company years ago when I'd had some irregular moles removed. The bill was over $900 -- pathology, office surgery and insurance wouldn't cover it because it was supposedly a pre-existing condition; however, I'd never been treated for skin cancer issues, etc. Was sooo frustrating...

I had no problem getting my DH's insurance to cover my full Ambry panel. My parents didn't have any trouble to get their insurance covering the panels they had to have run (~$300 each - scanning for two mutation). If they give you crap - have the doctor's office run interference for you.

I hope you don't get stuck with the bill - but if you do, call Ambry. We paid out of pocket for DH to get tested and the cash price for us was $450. That was in 2004.

I'm guessing though that they won't cover it since you guys aren't married (i.e he's not having kids with his wife who has CF) and he's not being worked up for CF. BUT I totally believe the test is worth doing for our spouses.
