While we can't force someone to take help they aren't ready to receive, that doesn't mean we should just give up on them altogether - keep trying.

yes, i see that point, too. you can certainly wait with someone until they are ready to drink.

it's just that the way it was sounding was that the saying implied giving up, which is a meaning i never took from that saying.

and, for the record, i saw no such thing. dr. phil gets zero screen time in my household, and i am adamantly anti-oprah.
