I just wanted to add this real quick. Dependant upon which type of insulin you takewill also depend on how your sugars react. Meaning 24 hr insulins have a different peaking time than 12 hr acting and short acting and so on. So that can play a role in when you may have lows versus highs as well.

Also since you are still fairly new to using insulin it may be that your body is still very sensitive to its effects and it doesn't take AS MUCH for you to go low as it might for me since I have been using insulin for 8 years. The same goes for those that have been taking insulin for 20+ years. It may take less insulin for ME to go low versus them. Some of it just depends on our bodies.

Does your pancreas function at all? I've been told by my doctor that some of my out of the blue lows could be from my pancreas deciding to work and produce just enough insulin to make my sugars low. For low blood sugars I usually drink some juice, or worse case I take 2 tablespoons of maple syrup.

My pancrease does function. Its just slow.

I am only taking short acting insulin & right now am on a self made (doctor approved) sliding scale. I use the Novalog pen.

We stopped the Prandin in the hospital. Maybe eventually that will be started again, but right now I need to be able to regulate whatever I use.

We are trying to figure what will work as I improve etc. My insulin that night was long, long before this drop. It should not have touched it.

If anything it would have been high from the shake. I might have just been super hungry, but thats not what it felt like.

I am totally out of whack so its hard to say, but I appreciate all the input!
