Hi all,
So, since Nov.'08,I have consistantly cultured very resistant PA. In 11/08, I was having fevers and not responding to the abx I was on. The sputum culture showed that I was resistant to everything but Tobra and Colistin. I was treated with those two drugs, and my FEV1 recovered. Then, in April '09, a similar scenario played out - fevers, not responding to abx. My docs did a bronch and found I was now also resistant to Tobra. My FEV1 increased slightly from the beginning of the exacerbation, but stayed a good 10% pts below my baseline. Now, I am on my 3rd week of IV's. I am still having mild temp elevations (no higher than 99.8) and my FEV1 is another 5% pts below what it was after the April course of abx.
So, I guess my question for everyone is has anyone had a similar experience? I know that abx resistance patterns can change. Have you ever been resistant to almost everything, then become sensitive to mult. drugs again?
Thanks for your input!
