Antibiotics and Lung Function

Parker had his CF visit yesterday and while they were thrilled that he has put on 10 pounds in 4 months, they commented that his lung function could be better. The doctor talked about using Azithromycin three times a week to improve his lung function. This initially made sense but then I had some questions. My big one is that doesn't this set him up (and the rest of the house) for resistant bacterial infections? Does anyone else use this method or something similar??

I was on Zithromax (sp) from the time that I was about 18 until I had the transplants last year (at age 25). When I first started using it, I did feel better, but as my CF progressed and my lungs got worse, nothing seemed to help that much anymore.
