I have a double colonoscopy/endoscopy scheduled for tommorow. They will have an anesthesiologist present and knock me out big time. I guess with the lungs being suppressed by anesthesia they have to be careful, and use the right stuff.

I hate being knocked out. I always fear waking up in the middle of a procedure-probably b/c it happened to me once.

I'm very nervous. My doc says to me-oh this is nothing, don't worry. But I've heard that before. I hope it really is nothing.

Anybody want to share their experience with this please? I'm really nervous!

I would not worry. they give you the medicine that makes you forget the whole procedure. I have had the drug a million times. If they give you versed that is the best one. They will probably give you a tiny amount and that is all you need. It feel so relaxing when it goes into your veins. I love the stuff.

I am on the go-litely now-ugg ugg ugg. If you've never had it, you can not imagine how disgusting it is. And I can handle alot-cod liver oil, nasty herb tinctures. This poop drink is awful.

I'm having it done b/c I have very bad acid reflux. I've been on acid meds for years now, and there's always the concern that years of those meds can damage your tummy. And I have more bloating than I used to.

I think b/c of this and also that I'm planning on being pregnant soon, my doc wants to make sure all is ok in my GI tract. I also have to get this acid issue under control before I get pregnant.

When I had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled they sedated me, I don't know with what-but that's when I woke up 1/2 way through. It was terrible. I woke up to this awful yanking feeling.

I'll just die if that happens again. i wonder if I should tell them about that before they start?

Yes! I think you should tell them that you woke up during the wisdom teeth removal.

My daughter just had the same two procedures done about 4 months ago -- everything went quite smoothly -- no worries, no problems, easy recovery -- the hardest part are the two days "cleanout" prior to the procedure.

i had it-
i just got back. i'm still a a little out.
the anesthesiologist was great-very calming and nice. she started to push the med in and within 30 seconds i was gone.
very good job!

it guess it took 1.5 hours. i woke up and felt as if nothing had happened.
i'm lgad i didn't chicken out and not go-if anyone out there needs it, do it. its not bad at all.

after, the gastro doc said that i need to up my enyzmes. he he found lots of oily residue insude me. he said usually in cfers you'll see the oil in the toilet-so to speak-to show that you aren't disgesting. but in some cases it just gets built up inside and stored in the colon, like mine. so i got a good clean out, and upping the pancrease should do the trick.

I'm glad you got through it without a problem. I know it doesn't help much right now because the procedure is done and over with, but I have had at least a dozen colonoscopies and endoscopies. I have Crohn's, which is a digestive disease. The worst part is the clean-out, hideous, horrible nasty stuff. I have to drop an ng tube in my nose to take the stiff. I have woken up several time during a colonoscopy and it is a nightmare!! It hurts like hell and you are being held down by the nurses. I had to get an endoscopy done all the way into my gallbladder and they had to wake me up in the middle of it so I could swallow and cough when asked--horrible!! I get panic attacks now and am extremely claustrophobic. My GI doctor now is very understanding and knows that I need more anesthesia than the average person. I woke up during the removal of my wisdom teeth also. Versed is usually enough to relax and knock out the average person, but not for everyone. Anytime you have surgery or need to be sedated let them know, but since you stayed asleep so good during the colonoscopy you shouldn't have a problem in the future!
