Anyone had problems with a port

Hello. I've never had the problem you have had (and sorry you had to go thru that, how awful)!

However, everytime I get accessed (and I do mean EVERY time) I get so horribly sick. Throwing up, fever (102+), chills, body aches, head aches. They actually have to give me a Chemo drug to help with the sickness. They have no idea why I get so sick. They might be flushing toxins out of my line perhaps.

It's weird though, I am fine to get flushed, it's only when I'm accessed for IV's that I get so sick. Usually about 20 hours after I have the needle in (and no meds have been started yet) I'm about 1/2 dead. It's the most miserable feeling and then on top of that the meds make me sick. Ugh. Double Whammy!

Not sure why these things happnen, but it's horrible. I'm lucky that I've never had a reaction like you!

Good luck finding a solution!
