Anyone PS but take enzymes occasionally?

This doesn't happen very often. I ate an avocado sandwich a little while ago and my stomach is throbbing still. It was only one whole small avocado, 1 full fat slice of cheese and 2 pieces of whole grain bread. Does anyone who is PS take enzymes occasionally? It's unlikely that I am PI and this has happened to me for as long as I can remember.

I'd ask your doctor about getting a prescription (or even better, samples ) of an enzyme and give it a try. I am only mildly PI, and only take an enzyme with dinner (when I take one of my vitamins) or greasy meals- 2 if it's something like a Bloomin' Onion, lol. If it helps, yay; if it makes you constipated, then you know that's not it . It did take me going through pretty much all the enzymes I think (blah) before I found one I liked. I take Viokase 16. It also comes in a 8. Good luck!

Oh, have you had your gallbladder checked? That can also cause stomach pains after a greasy/high fat meal...

Thanks Andee. Yes, my gallbladder was checked (pre CF dx). With the cost of copays a free sample makes sense.

yes, i do. i just take them every once in a great while if i am eating something especially fatty. i was told i was pancreatic sufficient when i was 25. i figure after taking enzymes for 25 years & not really needing them it wouldn't hurt to take them every once in awhile if needed! it is hard to predict when my digestion will act up though, it doesn't seem to follow a pattern. i never used to take my enzymes that regular anyway, because i never noticed a difference if i took 'em or not. so not that much has changed for me.... i just take them once in awhile. skipping my breathing treatments is a whole nother story though!!!! i can't skip those AT ALL!!!
