anyone use a shorter 'chest' vest?

Hi I just got the shorter chest vest bc now that I'm about 7 months pregnant, the regular longer one is too tight for the baby and me. I really like the chest vest, its much more comfortable on my pregnancy and produces mucus as good for me.

But-I am, lets say, huge boobed (esp now), and this vest stops about 2 inches below the bottom of the breasts. Bc of the design of the vest, this is causing them to chafe (sp?) TERRIBLY. I have huge sores under and around them. The pain is getting worse from it. I put cream on the sores but it doesn't help, it actually burns. And I put baby powder and that helped temporarily.

Has anyone else had this with that vest and do you have any suggestions for me?

um well haha this might be weird, but i hope it helps... i would wear a sports bra when your doing the vest, and they sell this stuff that i use for sports related chafing, its called Body Glide, and comes like a deoderant stick. but i would look into something like that, and make sure none of your blisters get infected! good luck!

i had the 'shorter' vest when i first tried it and hateeed it because i felt like i couldnt breathe, so now i just have chest pt by a person.

good luck!

MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I love it, but I don't have the boobs to feel squashed or anything. LOL! I've been using the small vest since August 2006. It should work better for you Chris!

I am having problems with the chest vest because I am also temporarily large chested -- F! anyway I feel like vest keeps riding up because of the boobs and I am not sure it is working as good as it should but when I strap it down real tight it comes unvelcro'd at the higher frequencies. Do you feel like this? I emailed hillrom last week and should have a new full vest waiting for me at home and I will see the difference and decide which to use I also asked if somoene could help me know how to use the chest vest with big boobs any tips etc and they referred me to a lady that I already know sucks and she's the one for my area so I didnt call her.

I am not having any chaffing or anythign so sorry can't help you there

Kathy Russell, 62 with CF who often writes for CF Roundtable once shared her tips for living with cf. Sorry I don't remember the edition it was in...I think it was the one that was topic "Caring for your CF gear." Anyway here's her tip as it applies to this situation.

To keep the (chest) Vest for riding and chafing place a square of non slip drawer liner between you and the Vest.

I would think this tip might help in your situation Christian and Nicole. I honestly never vest without my non slip material in place anymore. I didn't have the problem of chafing as much as the Vest would slip up or sometimes just the bladder would try to pop out through the neck hole. Not anymore.

I get a new Vest about every 6 months. I find the Velcro wears out fast. The problem you are describing Nicole is a sign to me that the Velcro isn't strong anymore.

Good luck.

The non slip idea is great I will get some tonight! The velcro on my vest is less than a month old though so it cant be that. I keep my pressure at 10 all teh time because it just doesn tseem strong enough to me so maybe that is why mine comes undone and it's also why I will try the full again in a bigger size ( my old one was too small for my mommy boobs and that is when I switched to chest vest).
