I love Hawaii and have recently visited. Does anyone live with CF live on any of the Hawaiian islands?

I live in California, with a CF clinic nearby and easy access to my meds.
I was wondering how your medical care (regarding CF) was. How easily you get your medication. How the weather affects you, etc.

Thanks for your help <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I live in CT. Luckily I am only about 10 miles from Yale New Haven Hospital where I receive all my care. I try to make sure that all my doctors are within the same area and can all be caught up with each other.
I have many "teams" to work with:
GI, Endocrin, Pulmonology, Liver, ENT, GYN.
They are all in contact with each other and I made sure that each recommended each other and were in the whole "CF" loop.
As far as climate etc.. I don't do very well in winter time in New England.
Future plans would include relocating to a place where the is no winter (would make sense) but frankly, I couldn't bare to leave my teams of doctors!
Also, I get most of my meds from either CF Pharmacy, Foundation Care Pharm. or good old RiteAid :)
It's a full time job just managing all of them, but hey, someone's got to do it. I need a secretary!
How do you do in Sunny California? Does the humidity help?

i live in new york and have been to the islands twice. my wife has family there and after being there and realizing it is paradise on earth, i did extensive research on moving there. unfortunately there seems to be no CF foundation approved care center. there is a army medical center where i think some CFers may get treatment, but i think it is for families of active service members only. it is too bad, because i think the island climate and life would suite me very well.

as fish said...the one accredited cf clinic on the island of hawaii is on an army base. it is located on the island of oahu. i don't know for sure, but i'm would think that it is for military personnel and family. i have never looked into what other options there are for hawaii, but i would love to be able to live there. for my high school graduation present my grandmother took me there. we were there for ten days and visited two islands. oahu and the big island of hawaii. i can tell you that i was perfectly fine during my trip there, even when we went and visited the national volcano park and got to walk practically up to flowing lava (totally awesome)! the one problem i did have while i was there was on the big island, we visit a town called hilo. and we stayed in hilo bay, it was very very humid on that part of the island. so i did feel some chest tightness and that sort of thing, but other than that the salt air is terrific for us!! i miss hawaii and really hope i get to go back. my husband have looked into getting stationed there and decided that that was a place that we could go because the marine base is located on oahu and the cf center is on oahu. i'm sure you could contact your local cf chapter and i'm sure they can help you. i know i wasn't much help, but i hope you find what you are looking for!!
