Hey all, I know that I don't post on here much but I just wanted to share in my excitement! I had to travel to Cleveland this weekend for some "regular" transplant appointments that I had today. My husband had to work today and I don't like to travel alone, so Graves went with me on my road trip to Cleveland. We had a blast talking about a lot of different things and then singing to "old school" songs on. It was hilarious! LOL
We got into Cleveland Sunday evening and we went to dinner with two other CFers, one of whom had double lung and liver transplant at the Cleveland Clinic in March this year. We had a great time with them! It's an awesome feeling for me, Cleveland Clinic's first double lung and liver transplant, to hang out with B, Cleveland Clinic's second double lung and liver transplant patient. We all spent about 3.5 hours talking last night...I didn't want it to end!
I had my appointments this morning, blood work, chest x-rays, PFT's and met with the doctor to make sure that everything is going okay with the transplant. My PFT's had dropped a little, but I think it was due to the technique that the tech wanted me to do, which I had never done before. It wasn't a significant enough decrease for the doctors to worry about so I was happy. 96% FEV1!! I got the go-ahead to come back in another 6 months.
As I was sitting there talking to the coordinator, she told me that I should go over to the hospital to see another doube lung and liver patient who had been in for a while. I asked if the patient's name was Laura and she gave me a funny look and asked me how I knew. Well, it's LGMClark from this forum! I knew she had her transplant, was at Cleveland Clinic, and had been in for a while. So, I marched my butt over to the hospital with Graves and we found Laura's room. Laura immediately knew who I was when I walked in and she was shocked!! She told her family who I was and I told them that I had my double lung and liver tx almost 3 years ago and the looks on their faces were priceless!
Laura, it was great meeting you!! I'm so happy that you're starting to do better little by little and I hope that you can get out soon! You are an amazing person for sticking it out like you have! I wish that every CFer could be as strong as you have been. We will definitely see each other again!
So, I left Laura, even though I didn't want to, because I had to make the 7 hour travel back home because of Brady having therapy tomorrow and Graves having to catch a train. As I was sitting at home tonight, I got a phone call from my Mom saying that my nephew (brother's son) was born tonight at 8:34!! That was such a great way to top off the weekend!
Graves, thanks for being a great friend and going with me! I'm not so sorry that your team lost tonight though. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">
