Rickiesmom:

HTS is hypertonic saline - 3%, 5%, 7% and 10%. I use the 3%.

Jennifer:

I have an older vest. I got mine back in 1999 I think. They had fitted me when I was in the hospital so that when they perscribed it I got the correct size.

Amy, Thank you so much for responding! I have one more question (maybe!) would you recommend HTS for a 6 year old? We want to do everything we can for our son, to keep the lung damage to a minimum. He already has a significant amount-it just crushes my husband and myself that he wasn't dx until just recently. We could of been holding off the damage had we known. We still feel guilty for that. Anyway, I really appreciate all the comments here I'm learning a lot.

Depending on which Amy you are referring to.... I'll respond anyway <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

HTS is being tested currently for younger children for efficacy - but safety is basically a given. It's just salt water. You can look for side effects like increased coughing, sore throat, etc. But other than that, it's one of the most harmless medications we CFer's take.

I'd give it a shot. It's an incredible med.
