Hi all,Does any of you carry Aspergillus without showing any symptoms and needing any cure ?Does a throat sample showing Aspergillus always means pulmonary colonization ?Thanks for your help.
My son, 12 has cultured it for years. The Drs say they just watch for an allegic reaction to it.Mom to three
I have had Aspergillus for a few years now. At this point I am on Sporonax constantly; reason being I was coughing up blood rather frequently for a couple years. For over a year now since I have been on Sporonax, daily, I have had few bleeds. I can't speak for everyone but that is how it has affected me.
Hi, I've had aspergillus for years now (don't know how long) and I've never had any problems from it, have never been on any meds for it, etc. The only worry I have over it is for transplant. Before they do the transplant, I need to be rid of the aspergillus. But I'm told that I'll just go on some meds to get rid of it when I get closer to transplant. I guess the problem with aspergillus lies with those who are allergic to it.Martha 29, CF
has the permanent sporaox stopped the aspergillus from coming back sarah? ive been doing a bit of reading lately and alot of people with abpa take long term sporanox. im going to ask my doc about it because i found out yesterday i have yet another bout of abpa. looks like steroids for me
Apparently I still culture the aspergillus sometimes, but it doesn't effect me like it once did. There is also the fear that by killing off the aspergilllus other fungus could take over. I must say though I have felt much better since starting it. They also check my levels - making sure I am getting enough in my system, and also watching my liver. The biggest issue was getting my insurance and pharmacy to give me that much medication, seeing as there is a limit on the usage. I guess since most people don't use it for lungs but rather the foot problem. What does abpa refer to?
