b cepica question

i was reading a update on another site that someones daughter who is 2 just cultured b cepica... isnt it uncommon for little ones to get this?? and what would they treat it with for someone so young.. i know its the bad bug and it gives me chills thinkin that a little one caught it so early in life...... oh and how do you get b cepica???? thanks for your imput..

The only thing I ever heard about it is that you get it from soil. Maybe she got it outside or it could have been on a fruit or vegetable?

it turned out the lab messed up on this little ones culture results and doesnt have b cepica.. but i am still curious how ppl get it and at what age they usually get it... thanks

I don't know as much as I should about cepacia, but it's hard to trace where different people pick it up. I've heard that cf patients can get it from moldy wet places, other cf patients (I think these might be the most dangerous strains), etc. I have a friend whose son has it and they don't know where he got it from.
