Is this something to be concerned about? My son has never cultured b. cepacia but we do use the brand of wipes mentioned. Since I throw out the packaging there is no way to know what lot I had from August until now?
Just wanted some thoughts on this. Thanks!

Voluntary Product Withdrawal of Baby Wipes Products Manufactured by Rockline Industries

November 28, 2006

Rockline Industries recently instituted a voluntary product withdrawal of store-brand baby wipes sold between Aug. 21 and Nov. 17, 2006. This withdrawal was the result of routine product testing that detected the presence of a micro-organism known as Burkholderia cepacia (B. cepacia). Affected products were packed in multiple brands including those sold at Wal-Mart stores and Sam's Club.

B. cepacia is a bacteria that can be found in soil and water and poses little medical risk to healthy people. However, people who have certain health problems like weakened immune systems or chronic lung diseases, particularly cystic fibrosis (CF), may be more susceptible to infections with B. cepacia. If you have questions or concerns, please contact your CF care center team.

It is strongly encouraged that anyone using store-brand baby wipes should check the lot code of the product. A lot code is NOT the same as a bar code. On Rockline packages, the lot code is typically found on the back label or side panel of the package and includes the word "Lot" followed by a series of numbers.

Affected products have a single lot code within the ranges of those identified below. No other lot codes other than those specifically mentioned are affected, however like any other organic based product, wipes can spoil over time.

The safest and most reliable way to identify the wipes is to check the lot code. Only the lot codes listed below are affected.

I would mention it to the doctor just in case anything starts up they will have a heads up. I am not sure if we know how easily CFers can contract bacteria from things such as this, but since we are more suceptable its best to keep on top of it.
