Anyone else have this.  I am nauseous and throwing up and itch but not on bactrim anymore. Does it take awhile for the drug and its symptoms to leave your body! Ugh, I am miserable!<br>

I was on bactrim 1,500 mg a day for 10 days recently and did not have any side effects. I have a strong stomach. But right now I'm on 2,000 mg of keflex and 1,400 mg of cipro a day. I've been on that for almost 2 weeks now. The Keflex gives me the diarrhea real bad. And usually after I'm done it takes a good week to clear up.

Hi Jenn, <div><br></div><div> How long have you been off the bactrim for ??  Are you taking any other meds that you may be having a reaction to ??  Do you think you may have a stomach bug ??  Did you call or go see you dr. ??? Boy I have lots of questions lol  </div><div><br></div><div> I am allergic to bactrim, but my reaction is something called a fixed drug eruption..  I develop a mark on my side (always the same spot) that gets a pretty color rose..  After stopping the med the mark stays for quite a long time, changing in color (looks more like an old  black-n-blue)  It does itch.   I haven't been on bactrim for a long time now.. </div><div><br></div><div> Hope you are feeling better by now  <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">  joni</div>

Have you tried the pediatric BRAT diet for the diarrhea? (bananas, rice, apple juice, toast).
I have found it pretty successful for antibiotic-related diarrhea. Obviously you eat other stuff too, but a few servings of each of that stuff per day and hopefully it will slow things down.

I have extreme side effects with Bactrim - nausea and vomiting and rashes. I had it through the IV in March and literally just ended a 2-week treatment of it through oral antibiotics. It's been over a week and I'm still throwing up. I was able to curb the nausea and vomiting most of those 2 weeks with the Zofran that dissolves in your mouth. But I had to stop taking it after I finished the Bactrim so I could be clear-headed enough to go back to work.

I thought it was strange that I was still feeling sick - so this was a very timely post for me to see!
