benefits of zithromax

I had hoped that we would -- ds's doctor mentioned that it helps with HIB, which ds has cultured along with pseudo, but haven't seen a benefit yet. Although DS has only had one culture since it was prescribed. See what happens this next appointment.

I've been on Zithro for about 3 months now, and haven't noticed a difference yet, other then my lungs feel slightly clearer. I think you have to be on it long term as in 6 months or something to notice a difference. My understanding is that Zithro done long term does not get rid of PA, but rather is used for inflammation.

Zithro is to me a "why not" medication, because to me it
doesn't make me actually "feel" any different.  And
then I'll be talking about when my last "episode" was,
with someone and I realize they're less frequent when I'm taking
the zithro. And my doc said there is some hope that long term it
helps break down the capsule like barriers around the pseudo that
would help the other medications get to it and do it's thing.
So that part didn't sound certain to me and more of a...
really it lessens irritation but if it decides to be helpful in
other ways too, well that will be icing on the cake.  That's
just my limited understanding

Upon reading I find I didn't answer your question....I hate it when
I do that.  So: No, my culture hasn't changed.  However,
though it would be nice for some stuff to disappear at this point
I'm always so dang grateful to not have something NEW I do the
debbie dance of joy in the office.  So if it helps in that way
...even if it only in my head (and thats entirely likely) i dig it.

Zithromax will not change sputum cultures. Zithromax cannot kill PA. It can kill some strains of Strep Pneumo and has very weak covereage of H. Flu.

In CFers, zithro is used for anti-inflammatory properties.
