Best sports drinks?

The only thing that works well for me is Gatorade. I know it has a lot of sugar, but for me quick replacement of potassium and sodium is more important. My understanding is that G2 doesn't have as much potassium and sodium and some other items I've looked at like Glucinade don't have sodium.

I haven't done extensive research, however.

I tried to use some lower sugar electrolyte thing and it ended me up in the ER - not enough sodium or potassium. Yes, my fault for not doing enough research but I thought for sure they wouldn't scrimp on those essential items. I was really wrong...

During the warm weather I use Nuun tablets (you drop it in your water bottle and it makes a slightly flavored/fizzy drink). I love Gatorade but it is only a treat for me because of the sugar. I drink 100% fruit juice every day, usually 1-2 glasses. During some hot weather we just had I started getting leg/foot cramps so I bought magnesium supplements. It helps a little so I'm taking it regularly now. HTH.

i'm just wondering,
i drink a lot (12-16 cups) of water in a day, mostly in the form of caffeine-free herbal tea (unsweetened) or straight up water. i eat a lot of salt (i think) in my daily food intake. my question is, does it all work out the same, if you get your salt through food and you drink plain water? or, do you have to drink water with electrolytes to make the difference?

I have found gatorade to be pretty effective. It was designed for the Florida football (Gators) team in 100 degree, humid weather. Other drinks would probably work, but I stick to gatorade. I feel better, quicker, if I have a big gatorade after working out than if I just drink water and with some salty food. Aside from the fact that Gatorade is terrible for teeth, I think it's well designed for CFers. Then again, I might jsut be fooled by the marketing.
