wow i don't know any CF that can get rid of staph. Are you symptomatic? Increased cough?

many infectious disease docs believe in not treating staph unless symptomatic because staph can prevent PA colonization.

something to think about

The meds will never totally get rid of it....but because I was having symtoms of a lung infection-increase cough and mucus production, fatigue, etc (I know my body pretty well and am aware when I get sick)...they are treating it. I have been getting constant re-occuring infections throughout the summer-so I think the doxy just wasn't doing its job in keeping the bacteria down to a normal level...so hopefully t his will do it!
My immune system is probably also down because I am so stressed out-I work 25 hrs per week, have 2 small kids, and am in school full time. But-I am done with school in May so hopefully things will get less stressful then!
Interesting that most doc's don't treat it-both place I have been (University of Washington-Seattle and the spokane clinic as well) have treated it whenever I have an infection.

Notice how I wrote about that docs don't treat it unless you're symptomatic. Which is exactly in line with what you said you have experienced. You have had symptoms (cough, fatigue, sputum) so you were treated.

Hope you feel better soon!
