Sometimes it's bloating, and other times it could be because there's a lot of stuff getting backed up in your intestines. If you're not taking the right number of enzymes, it can turn into sludge in there and just take up space. Sounds gross, but that's what happens. Also, if there's stuff blocking you up in there, gas and other BM can get backed up behind it. Are you having stomach aches with the bloating?
2005CFMom, if you open up the capsules, their contents don't activate in the right part of the gut to help you absorb the medication. That's why the package says "do not crush or chew" on it. You'd be wasting the med to open it and sprinkle it on food. They might have said that's a good way to get an infant to eat it (like in applesauce or something) but it's not the right way.
