Blod Clot?

I coughed up something that I have never coughed up before. Usually I cough up green goo traced with blood or I have had hempotisis (sp)twice. But this was the size of a dime, redish/brown, goo with no green? Is it a blood clot?

If you do cough one up is it big news to inform doc. or only call doc if it's the bright red stuff hemoptisis (sp)?

that is another form of hemoptysis, they explained it to me why that happens at times but it wasnt a very good one so I will let someone else on here take that. I would call my CF center, especiallly since it is a first and 'throwing clots' can be dangerous if it gets worse.
