Blood sugar

I am a teacher and it is my responsibility to find a substitute. I think it is ridiculous and I wonder how much that comes from the principal or just the other teachers. They all find their own subs so I am expected to. But of course the last thing you want is to talk to a stranger when you feel so bad.

I am short of breath but my doctor tells me that is the ABPA acting up, not the sugars. and I don't think he thinks the tiredness is from that either. It seems that they just don't know much about diabetes so are making excuses. I would rather they just tell me they don't know.

I just went to eat breakfast and I realized I don't even know what to eat. I usually eat yogurt or cereal (honey nut cherrios) and those have too much sugar! I don't have time to make eggs so I am at a loss. Goodness aren't I just a barrel of laughs today?

I just reread some of your posts and I am wondering if you see an endocrinologist for your sugars or if you are dealing with your CF pulmonologist? If you do NOT see an endocrinologist I would call your insurance and find out the name of one that takes your insurance and make an appointment with them. I had similar issues with my pulmo. docs saying nothing was wrong when I was younger (before diagnosis) I had every possible symptom of diabetes and all they would tell me was it is stress, being sick or that I had an eating disorder (once my sugars became so out of control that I started losing weight.

Often times within specialties doctors don't know much else about other areas of expertise ... at least that is what I have found. Heck my transplant docs tell me they don't want to treat my digestive issues because honestly they don't know alot about CF digestive issues. I appreciate that and because of that go to my CF doc still.

Well I will stop rambling. I hope you are able to get your sugars taken care of you will feel so much better if you do. Also to add YES your sugars affect your breathing (i.e the inflammation).

Take Care,
Lindsey

Sue,

I can't help you with the blood sugar issue but I used to be a teacher (in an inner city high school) my school didn't provide substitutes either...it was a NIGHTMARE trying to get someone to cover your class for you! My stress levels were out of control back then....it sends shivers up my spine.

Hang in there, sounds like you're being very proactive in taking care of yourself!

Welsh Witch-
I am glad someone else knows what it is like! It is almost not worth going through all the stress to take a day off. All day today I was scrambling to find a sub and I almost just got too tired to deal with it!
