PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A Catholic school in Philadelphia is back in business after a boy with cystic fibrosis helped save it from closing.

Tommy Geromichalos (jer-oh-MY'-kah-lohs) wrote a letter to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, asking help in keeping St. Cyril's Catholic School open.

The school was slated to close for lack of money.

School principal Barbara Montague says, "It's a textbook example of the importance of children." Montague says, "The Gospel always says a child will lead us. And didn't a child lead us to success last year in keeping a school open!"

Fundraising, including a car raffle, netted more than the 200-thousand dollars needed for the school to open this fall. Now, students are shopping for their school uniforms.
