BRAND NEW VEST for sale

New member
I have a brand new 2006 model 104 vest that I am trying to sell. It's under full warrenty. I know how expensive they are and that many insurance companies don't cover them and some countries can't even get them. I thought I'd start here before listing it on eBay. If you or anyone you know is interested, please contact me at debralamers@hotmail.com. Thanks

We are hoping to get around $8000 CAN for it. It has never been used before. I can get either type of vest (long or short) in any size. If you live in Canada, it will save you over $4000.

We purchased one and paid for it out of pocket. Since that time we have learned that our benefit plan covers the vest, but because we made the purchase before the coverage started, we couldn't get reimbursed. Now we have 2, one that my husband uses (32 wcf) and a brand new one that are trying to sell.

You live in canada and have benefits for it????? I live in the US so I'll be frank about the fact that I have no idea how the medical system works there.

But I do know many CFers on this site who live in canada and are interested in the vest, but dont' have coverage for it. Maybe you'd be willing to share some specifics regarding your benefit plan.....

Hope you do find someone to sell it to though. The UK doesn't have coverage for it, I know that for sure. Not sure if you posted this in the families section too but we've got parents of CFers from the UK and CFers from the UK in that forum too. Best of luck with selling it.

I didn't think that any coverage in Canada covers the vest. This is what I've been told. Is it being covered through private insurance?

There are plans that do cover it. It just depends on what type of policy has been purchased by an employer for their employees. Naturally a smaller company won't have a flex plan, or a plan that allows for such huge expenses because that would mean they would have to pay a very high premium. For a huge company that already has to pay premiums for hundreds of employees, they have more flexibilty in which benefit package they choose which changes what is covered. I can assure you that both Manulife and Sunlife have covered the vest in Ontario, but once again, just because you have coverage from one of these plans, the vest needs to be listed in the coverage package in order to get reimbursed.

The last time I enquired about the vest for my son, I was told that the vest wasn't even available here in Ontario because it wasn't proven any more effective than manual percussion and of course the cost being the other factor. If my memory serves me correct the vest is not listed in the coverage package from Great West Life.

I'm not sure about Great West Life, but I have one covered from Manulife in Ontario with approval from my phyisician. Hill Rom does sell to Canada. All you need is a prescription and $12,000...or coverage.
