Breastfeeding and Enzymes

I realized after posting that that seemed like a pretty obvious thing to try. I just remember when Caleb was an infant, I was afraid to give him any more solids than was absolutely necessary.

Why do you think doing a different solid would help??? If it is because it would be less liquidy, you may want to try a diffent applesauce. I actually never did babyfood, I just went for the regular, no sugar added stuff.

Blessings,
Missa

DS preferred bananas -- think it was a texture thing -- didn't like applesauce at all. Weird thing was he loved baby food pears, too.

I breastfed our son with CF and I have two thoughts. One is it may not be enzyme related and could be slight changes in BFing due to teething. At times little unnoticeable changes in their latch will cause irritation and soreness until it passes. If you think for sure there are still enzymes on the nipple during nursing...I would just break the suction with the pinky finger after let down and wipe the area and sweep inside her mouth with a clean finder to make sure all beads are gone then put her back to the breast.

You are giving her the best gift by breastfeeding her for as long as you can! Glad you are receiving support in your choice.

I haven't experienced irritation...then again, Ellie is mostly bottlefed with fortified EBM...I didn't think the beads could cause irritation unless they were crushed (i.e., opened). Is this untrue? Also...I thought they didn't open until reaching the small intestine due to optimum pH...

I put the beads in the middle of her tongue and she seems to swallow all of them within the first few "sips".
