Thanks for posting Dr. Hale's info. I LOVE HIM <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> I have his site bookmarked and have sent it to so many moms. I even saved a bfing relationship when the mom was told to stop nursing due to taking Cipro.

DR. Hale is the ONLY doctor I trust when it comes to breastfeeding and medications. Having been nursing now for 5 years straight, I make sure that my info is correct and as up to date as possible - and Dr. Hale is the go to guy.

If you are concerned about gut flora in the baby (or yourself) just get some baby acidophilus powder. you can mix it in liquid or just put some in baby's mouth from your finger.

I generally went based on Dr. Hale's recommendation-he is the worldwide expert on this. I also used a lactation clinic. They were very helpful. For TOBI there's isn't any "consensus" yes or no. Its a personal decision and varies by doctor.
I did not use TOBI during my pregnancy, but I was healthy enough to not really need it. (this is on my docs recommendation btw) I BF for a year, and used TOBI for one month during that year. I BF right before taking TOBI-pumped and dumped after TOBI-and used formula to supplement a little bit. I think the baby was almost a year at that point-so solid foods were there anyway, ect.
Its really a risk/benefit situation for you. There's no evidence that TOBI is "dangerous" while BF. But theres also not alot of studies done on individual drugs during preg/Bf.
If I was BF and needed TOBI-I'd take it of course. Moms health has to come first.
Think about it, weigh the risks for your personal situation and you'll make the right choice. If its right, you'll know it in your gut!

You are good. I breastfed for 2 years and almost EVERYTHING is safe to take. If you are really worried, nurse RIGHT before med times so that you have a few hour window before you have to nurse again.

I have done IV tobra and nursed. But everyone tells me inhaled less goes into the milk, if any. Alot of meds never reach the milk and from what I have been told inhaled meds tend to fall in that catagory.

I'm not sure how old your child is, but I really recommend eating yogart for both of you or taking a probiotic. I always made sure Olivia had them just in case.

All that being said I am training to be an LC sooo I've done alot of research on meds and breastfeeding.
