Breath with sweet smell?

I was just curious, does Pseudomonas or any other bacteria have a sweet smell to it when you are culturing it? I have been lying awake while hubby is asleep and I could smell a sweet smell coming from his breath as he sleeps. I have not smelt anything like it before and would just like to know what your experiences are with this, if any.

I remember reading a few months back that pseudomonas does smell sweet.

It could also be high blood sugar. When the sugar is really high, a lot of diabetics can tell based on the sweet smell of their breath. I'd get it checked out, just to be safe. My friend has a daughter with Diabetes, and that's always been a critical warning sign for her.

And in case you're not aware, as if CF by itself isn't enough many people with pancreatic issues later develop Cystic Fibrosis Related Diabetes- CFRD. Or as I call it Type 3 diabetes (I have it). People usually laugh when I say that but it's kind of the easiest way to explain it. </div><div><br></div><div>The CFF is trying (and failing) to get centers to screen twice a year for CFRD with spot sugar checks. Be aware that with this type of Diabetes hemoglobin A1C is often not a very accurate measure for diagnosis (or so they say.)</div><div><br></div><div>If you would like to know anything else feel free to shoot me a PM.</div>

April, thats funny, I have CFRD too, and I've always called it type III as well *grin* I was completely pancreatic insufficient and took tons of pancreatic enzymes until I was about 20, and then BOOM, I developed diabetes, but suddenly, was digesting my food?!?!?!? Go figure! Havent taken an enzyme in 20 years.....and this past year I worked by buttock off exercising and dieting to loose 35 lbs that I'd gained in the last 10 years. Anyone else had radical changes like this? Its almost like a gene kicked in or something. Strange. They tested me, and yup, my pancreas wasnt functioning at all, but somehow I was compensating.
