I am 38.5 weeks pregnant (due dates are based on 40 wks, after 37 weeks babies are considered full term). I have been sleeping on the couch for the last two weeks because I can actually sleep there for more than 1 hour at a time. I'm afraid in my comfort the baby has gotten into a breech position. Everything has been absolutely wonderful with this pregnancy. No problems.
Yesterday and today the baby has been on the move. Not just kicks but really moving around which he hasn't been doing for the last few weeks. This morning I woke up and I had a hard bump on the right and left side of my tummy. Usually there's only one hard bump because his head has been where it should be for birth (down in pelvis) since at least 32 weeks. This afternoon he got the hiccups and I confirmed that his little mouth was over on my right side. I called the OB and I have an appt. tomorrow AM to confirm his position. If he is transverse (side-to-side) then they suggest external cephalic version which is manually moving the baby into the correct position externally. There's risk of breaking the water and the baby will not necessarily stay in a head down position.
For now I will lie as much as I can with my butt in the air and shoulders down on all 4's as this is supposedly a position that encourages the correct birthing position.
Please pray that he isn't transverse or any other version of breech. My hospital will only vaginally deliver a head down baby and I really, really, really want to avoid a c-section for fear of a difficult recovery due to not being able to cough effectively without a lot of pain.
I'm asking for your prayers / thoughts for my baby boy to be in head down position (facing my spine preferably) for the next few weeks. As well as being healthy with a strong heartbeat. That my hemoptysis won't flair up during labor & delivery. If I go into labor with a breech baby, please give me strength to accept what needs to be done to bring a healthy baby into this world even if it means a c-section.
