C-diff and Thrush

My kids always got thrush with IV meds. We started taking adidophilus then went to a probiotic and haven't had a problem since. We don't use the probiotic that is refridgerated, just a jar of pills. I don't know the difference really, but it worked for us!

I'm sorry this was so rough for you Khristina. Hope it gets better soon.

I've had C-Diff twice. I've started taking a probiotic called Bio-K and have not had C-diff since. It's not cheap, but at the first sign on any digestive issues I load up on it. I was in the hospital a few months ago and drank two or three a day during iv's and for the three weeks afterward. I did not get C-diff.

I don't have any experience with c-diff, but I do have experience with thrush. I'm not a huge fan of yogurt, so that is out, and I've never gotten into the habit of taking acidophilus pills. And to top it off, I have a strange reaction to diflucan. It DESTROYS my sense of taste to the point I starved for a whole week after taking it (gagged when drinking water) it just destroyed my taste buds for nearly a month. It was AWFUL! My docs had never heard of such a side effect but I will only take diflucan again if my life depended on it. It was so awful.

In my experience I have much success with anti-fungal lozenges. I have taken them three times with IV antibiotics. I start them on day one of the antibiotics. They don't taste bad, I take 3 lozenges a day. They dissolve in your mouth. The name is Clotrimozole (might be spelled wrong) While taking these and being blasted with a 3abx cocktail for 21 days, i did not get thrush, nor did I get a vaginal yeast infection. I SWEAR by these lozenges. In the future, I won't start IVs without them.

Good luck. I hope you feel better soon.

I love Biotene mouth wash for preventing thrush. It does not claim it does this but from my experience, I had thrush it was gone within two days.
I also love using tea tree suppositories for any yeast infection.

Taking acidiolphils is very important. Sugar breeds yeast so keep your cool for now on anything with refined sugars
I hope you are well again soon
