Wow, that's a weird rumor... and it is a rumor. I use HTS. I can't imagine any CF clinic saying no to that one... the stuff is awesome, for me anyway.

Thank you for the GREAT, concise information! I do appreciate it! I notice you have children... How were the "team" about that? Were they helpful and coordinate care with your high risk OBGYN? Did it seem the OBGYN knew what CF was and how to properly care for you? Just curious.

I'm really grateful for all the information you shared. I will deff. shop around if we get stationed there, however my decision right now is whether we will ask for Langley at Virginia Beach or Beale in Sacramento.

Hi Sonia,

All of my doctors were extremely supportive when I became pregnant with the twins. I did become diabetic immediately and the offical diagnosis was "CFRD brought on by the stress of pregnancy" It did go away when I delivered. I am now still borderline, watching my lows mainly.

Many years ago, I randomly picked my OB. But when I became pregnant Chipps asked me who my OB was and would have actually recommended my OB and no one else! The OB didn't know much about CF himself, but he relied on Chipps to fill him in (and me too). He was always concerned, in a good way asking me "how is your breathing" at every appointmnet. I increased my visits with the CF dietician to once a month to monitor my weight. I didn't go to "clinic" once a month, I just saw the dietician alone. I also saw diabetic dieticians once a month. My OB referred me to that team called "Sweet Success" once I became diabetic. They monitored my urine and blood sugars. I had to test 4x/day and call in each sugar reading with the amount of insulin every 72 hours. My OB also referred me to the perinatologist. I saw the peri about every 6 weeks for ultrasounds and that's about it. I wasn't delivered by the peri nor did I really have office visits. The ultrasound tech would do the ultrasound, print a report and then the peri would come in and look for himself. That was it for me. I didn't have any complications that would warrant any special monitoring or testing. All of the doctors were very interested in what Chipps had to say about my lungs and my pregnancy. They worked very well together and I was never once scolded for doing anything "wrong" like not gaining weight. I do have to admit I'm a very compiant patient too. But I've heard some stories you wouldn't believe about negativity when CFers get pregnant...let alone twins! All the "teams" I worked with during my pregnancy had offices in or around the Sutter Memorial hospital. I could usually piggy back appointments. It was very convenient.

I would like to find an understanding clinic when it comes to getting prego, as DH and I would like to try again for a baby in the future if/when my lungs improve with exercise, etc. We've stopped trying for now, but had "tried" for a couple of years with no success. So, its important to me to find a clinic that works directly with OBs, etc and is not negative about CFers getting prego. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Is there a lot to do? Is there a lot of traffic? Crime? Pollution? What is the population? Sorry for all the questions... I just am trying to get a better "feel" for the place.
