can deviated septum get worse?

I have been having a lot of increased sinus congestion, runny nose for a while now, if you read my blog you know. Its wierd...my nose gets blocked and then I go and BLOW and BLOW and finally some big cruddy piece of snot comes out. Its almost always very green, sometimes with tinges of blood or mostly blood. Every time I try to blow my nose, my ears pop. Currently I am taking Flonase (have been for a while now), Zyrtec (which just went OTC) and last week my doctor told me to start taking Sudafed. I have been taking sudafed now since Friday, every four hours (except obv at night). I have also been doing saline rinses two or more times a day.

I DID have polyp problems back in the day (middle school-ish) and probably have a deviated septum b/c of that. My real question is Can a deviated septum get worse all of a sudden? My congestion is on both sides, but mostly the side that the septum is on. If I stick my finger up the left side, I can feel the wall of septum, whereas on the right, I feel an indent (where the bump is on the left). My congestion isnt much better today than it was last week. Does anyone know how long sudefed should take to work? I would think immediately. I dont know if I should call my doctor or not, he said to keep him posted, but he said the next step would be prednisone and that kinda scares me, not gonna lie.
