Katie,
My son was born (9-10-2006) with Meconium Ileus and he was just at the University of Nebraska Medical Center for liver/small bowel transplant eval.
His small bowel is fine thankfully (he had four bowel surgeries) but with his liver it is only a matter of time before it starts to fail.
I'm not sure if I can say positively weather MI had any effect on his liver...but my sons liver problems started with TPN, then a surgical liver biopsy at three months old showed that his bili ducts were plugged up with bile, the same way his intestines were plugged up with meconium.
Thankfully the surgeon was able to unplug the ducts (his bili peaked at 25) and by the age of one his bili was almost completely normal.
But...the damage had already been done.
My son's stools are a peanut butter consistency, but then he is g-tube feed only (peptamen Jr/pediasure mix) and can only take powdered enzymes (viokase).
My son is also dd508
