CF and climate

Hm. Interesting. It's true that there are SOOO many variables to what makes you feel "well" and what makes you feel "bad." Compliance to meds, nutrition, lung function, excercise, rate of infections, etc. seem to all contribute to overall health. CF is such a mystery disease and it seems like the key is figuring out what works best for you.

I've wondered about this quite a lot. How funny, we used to live in CA (hence the user name) and have now lived in Oregon for 4 years (switched with ya!). Our little one hasn't lived anywhere outside the NW but we've thought quite a lot about moving to the central CA coast (SLO) some time in the future to be closer to family (in OC, but it's closer than Oregon) - probably a number of years from now.

Seems that members' answers are all over on this one. The California climate shifts a lot depending on location - where abouts are you in CA?

I moved from the Nebraska to Colorado and I notice a drastic difference in my lungs... less infections, no change in lung function (I think it has gone down with my age though) and less sinus trouble. The air is drier here. I do have to deal more with the smog but we have purposefully lived away from its normal path. They let us know of bad air quality days and I stay indoors more on those days. Every time we go back to Nebraska or Missouri to visit family I get sick within a few days of being there (sinus or lung stuff).

I agree with Mel, the rain kills me. My joints scream days before the rain hits and I am almost stuck in my recliner the day it rains (with the heating pad and a mild pain killer).

I migrated from Michigan to Japan, and the only observation I had was that my allergies had "changed". It was real severe in August when I was in Michigan, but had become severe at the end of May during my first few years in Japan.
I've been to Colorado, with the exposure to high altitude, but it didn't seem to affect me unless I was doing heavy excurtion, like running. (then I just got really winded).
Despite Japan being surrounded by salt water, I kinda think there's less of a benefit for me because of the CO2 being expelled from the automobiles and such because I live so close to the city. My visits to Nara is good in the sense that it has much cleaner air and is a little cooler.
Due to my many injuries, I have soreness whenever a big storm is coming...I can even feel it when a typhoon is coming! However, I don't take aspirins or use electrical heat pads, just knee supporters and a kind of heat pad that you adhere to your skin.
