Hi Mary,

I also have hypothyroidism, high blood sugar, with some other stuff, too... I was diagnosed three years ago now with they hypothyroidism and high blood sugar. I know it seems impossible to eat! But, I wanted to mention two things to re-assure you....

1 - Hypothyroidism is my favorite of all my diseases, lol. All I have to do is take a synthetic thyroid hormone pill every morning and done! It's a piece of cake, and I noticed slightly more energy once I started the hormone.

2 - Even though I'm not technically 'CFRD' I did start insulin. It just gives me a little more freedom with food choices and makes me not have a guilt trip for a piece of candy after dinner <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> I know that probably sounds overwhelming to you right now - but I just wanted to mention it so you could think about it as a possibility in the future. I didn't do it right away either, but I love it now.

thank you all for your replies and suggestions. I will check them all out and see what might work best for me. To let you know. I actually am overweight. I need to LOSE weight. Not gain it. I dont have CFRD. Although I am being closely monitored for it for the last 3 years. My B12 was fine. My glucose level was showing elevated on a blood test. I am due to take another one here in two weeks. I dont really eat out that much. So fried foods are not an issue. I try alot to just eat the least processed foods as possible. My glucose level has been elevated for a few years now. The dr. thinks that my thyroid condition could be to blame. But yes I am very overwhelmed with all of this. I am also scared. But I know that by coming on here and posting my concerns that someone would be able to lead me in the right direction for help. And you didnt fail me. THANK YOU! I did look up Co-q-10. But I do have to be careful which herbal supplements I take. Because my thyroid pill interacts with alot of these supplements. But I do take some. My kidney function is normal too! I have so many odd things happening to me that I just through my hands up in the air and said "ok, I give up." but in reality I know that I have to keep fighting to stay healthy. So I sit here and write this feeling grateful and blessed that I am not alone in this fight...I appreciate each and everyone of you...

Eating healthier has caused me to lose weight (without counting calories). I used to be quite hefty.

I am eating alot healthier than what I was. But I'm still working on that. I dont really eat processed foods if I can help it. I dont go out to eat more than twice a month. Cant afford it. But the foods that I usually dont eat are the ones that have the highest cholesterol levels. I went to the store yesterday and found that most of the foods that were supposed to be heart healthy were the ones with like 60mg of cholesterol per serving. I just chuckled at how ironic that was. Lol. Anyway, Yeah I'm pretty good at eating at home, and trying to eat healthy. I found out that most of my cholesterol came from Milk. 2% milk. My pcp says that my elevated sugar level might be coming from the cf attacking my pancreas and it be shrunken to only 50% function. Lack of insulin being produced. She told me that it didnt matter what diet I went on or how well I maintained my wieght, that I would end up with CFRD regardless. So I have been feeling discouraged by that. My sugar level has been elevated for over 3 years now.
She just told me to do the best that I can. I have been. I actually got confused when she said that my cholesterol level was high. Because most of my foods have a low cholesterol level. But the highest was milk. I still dont know what to think about that. But anyway, I will keep everyone posted.
